The Weeknd

They don’t come much more critically acclaimed than The Weeknd. From his very first productions, released anonymously on YouTube, praise started pouring in for this Canadian talent. Before signing to a label The Weeknd released three nine track EPs in a single year—they were later released and remastered as The Trilogy. The Weeknd counts Drake and Kanye West among his strongest supporters and he has been dubbed the songbird of his generation by one of countless outlets including: Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and XXL among many others. Don’t miss The Weeknd’s 2013 LP Kiss Land and his latest single The Hills—#FVDE2015 is just around the corner.

This Dutch superstar needs no introduction. Ever since he broke on to the scene in a big way with Take Over Control in 2010 Afrojack has been a main stage mainstay and a dance music icon. Having played a massive role in popularizing the Dutch sound Afrojack took a large leap forward in 2014 with the release of his debut artist album Forget the World—it was now time to take on the world of pop. #FVDED2015 marks Arfojack’s second foray in to BC, see you there.

Hailing as BC’s reigning bass king Excision is set to bring a main stage gut punch to #FVDED2015’s second day. With wrenching twists and turns and bass that cuts like a knife live Excision is a full body experience not for the faint of heart. Fresh off the release of his new LP Codename X prepare yourself to enter a dark twisted nightmare of frantic energy and bass mastery engineered by the genius that is Excision.

The Chainsmokers

Ever since Alex and Drew broke on to the scene they have offered their audience something very few dance music acts do…genuine, relatable, and honest personality. As a duo The Chainsmokers have mastered the art of melodic production and live charisma. With two brand new singles under their belt—Let You Go & Good Intentions—and a collaboration with Tiesto on the way their #FVDED2015 experience is sure to be packed with new material.

Asaf Borger is an enigma. From his bass roots in deathcore heavy metal band Shabira to his early dubstep duo Alphamale Primates, Asaf has always loved making noise. Conversely Asaf has been playing piano since the age of three and he graduated high school with a saxophone major. For a taste of Borgore check out his 2014 album #Newgoreorder—fans will tell you once you get bitten by the Borgore booty-beast there is no going back.

Ty Dolla $ign

Wiz Khalifa collaborator, tour partner and Taylor Gang Records label mate Ty Dolla $ign is set to have a wildly successful 2015. Ty’s initial rise to fame came in 2010 when he wrote and produced Toot It and Boot It for YG. From there he released Beach House Mixtape 1&2—however, its Stand For and Drop That Kitty from his upcoming debut LP Free TC that really set up Ty’s current artistic direction.

Vic Mensa

Chicago hip-hop producer is relatively new to the game as a solo artist. In 2013 Vic Mensa released his inaugural solo mixtape INNANETAPE, and one year later he released his debut single Down On My Luck. 2015 saw another massive leap for Mensa as he performed Kanye West’s new single Wolves alongside West on SNL’s 40th anniversary show: shortly after Mensa was signed to Roc Nation for his debut album Traffic. #FVDED2015 is sure to be a coming out party for Mensa featuring loads of unreleased material.

This year at #FVDED2015 leave yourself open to being surprised. LA based producer/DJ TOKiMONSTA specializes in atmospheric productions that are simultaneously transcendent and all consuming. Since 2008 she has released five EPs, and three full length albums: for a taste of her current creative mindset catch her 2014 LP Desiderium.

Keys N Krates

This Canadian trio are live dance music personified. Consisting of drummer Adam Tune, synth/keyboard player David Matisse and internationally award-winning turntablist Jr. Flo, Keys N Krates represent the best in fusion between hip-hop and electronic music. For a taste of their original productions check out there EPs, SOLOW and Every Nite.

This French producer packed up quit business school and moved to LA to start his own record label, HW&W, and start making beats. Stwo’s momentum picked up quickly as his first beats caught the eye of Drake’s producer before ending up in Stwo’s debut mixtape NINETY-TWO. If you are looking for a reference point Stwo’s main inspiration is Kaytranada, and now is the time to catch him live. Ultimately his goal is to produce for rap’s biggest names so catch him at #FVDEDinthePark before he vanishes from the live scene.

Hailing from Nova Scotia this Canadian duo broke on to the scene with their remix of The Chainsmokers #selfie. Since their career launching remix Botnek has worked to solidify their hard hitting festival ready sound. From Vikings with 3lau to Bumble Bee with Zedd, Botnek continues to bring the energy with each release.

In 2010 Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq came together from their respective solo projects to create Humans, a unique live dance music experience. The duo blends experimental electronic elements with catchy indie-pop hooks creating something altogether new. Don’t miss their debut LP Noontide, and prepare yourself for previously unexplored sonic avenues.

This Toronto duo consisting of former national Redbull Thre3style and DMC champion Pat Drastik and production wizard Tom Wrecks teamed up in the summer of 2012. Thugli’s sound is inspired by the duo’s affinity for dirty south rap and a strong passion for electronic music. Their big break came when Diplo, A-Trak and Flosstradamus stepped in to support their sound and ever since then they’ve become a force to be reckoned with.

Perhaps best known for his live mix show The 5 O’clock Traffic Jam, Flipout has been a Vancouver mainstay for years. From his weekly all vinyl shows at Bottleneck to his Sup Fu? sets at Fortune Sound, and now Nu at MIA—Flipout’s local presence is felt everywhere. Make sure to show up early to #FVDED2015 and catch one of Vancouver’s consummate mixers doing his thing.
