Late 2011, Louis “Brodinski” Rogé and Manu Barron launched a platform to collaborate with their friends. The now nicknamed #BMC is a collection of french producers who are “all about the music”. Brodinski, Gesaffelstein, Club Cheval and Louisahhh! Are the more household names of the team, but also include up-and-coming artists Monsieur Monsieur, Ateph Elidja, Illangelo & B.A.G.A.R.R.E. The releases are not limited to their resident artists, or even ones from Europe as they have signed EP’s from the likes of American rapper Danny Brown and Canadian producer Kaytranada.
Their second compilation accents the labels darker direction, contracting the talents of techno genius’ like Jimmy Edgar and Jon Convex.
Brodinski’s Album Brava is scheduled to drop March 2nd, highlighted by his single “Can’t Help Myself”. Louis says that his album will be “if techno producers worked with rappers”, a trend recently reborn by Kanye’s “Yeezus” album.
The Label collaborated with clothing brand The Hundreds in 2013, creating a limited edition tee, hoodie and hat. The line, seemingly only worn by elite producers, and lucky people who got their hands on the limited drop, adds to the image of Bromance being an entourage.
The staple sound for bromance is a hard hitting, techno-electro hybrid that seemingly has only been mastered by french producers, as brilliantly portrayed in the first release; “Control Movement” by Gesaffelstein, and “Let the Beat Control your Body” by Brodinski Featuring Louisahhh. It doesn’t matter if they put out dark and aggressive dance music or something half-time and melody focused, the releases never follow a conventional mold of modern day music. One common theme throughout every song, 100% club- ready.
Bromance has been curating some events in North America, including a showcase at WMC and a summer tour. In 2013, and 2014 they launched a tour with label friends Marble Records, and Zone records. The tour included 3 French cities, Paris, Lyon and Lille and even had one event in Montreal.
