As many know, Colony Bar is the bar/restaurant extension of Blueprint. Our owners wanted to use their extensive hospitality experience to create something intimate and familiar. They opened the first location in 2013 in Kitsilano – with the sole goal of a casual community hangout where people can enjoy quality products and good company. From there, “keep good company” turned into the brand ethos. The community responded well. Colony extended to the bustling Mount Pleasant neighbourhood with a second location in May of 2015 – Colony Main Street.
Fast forward to today, we’ve set our sights on a new neighbourhood: Northwoods. This is a burgeoning development in the heart of North Vancouver. This neighbourhood is growing fast and its residents need a place to come together – Colony is ecstatic to provide that. Colony Northwoods will be the largest location yet with a large, year round patio that’s sure to be the ultimate post-hike hangout in the summer and apres-ski spot in the winter. Everyone can expect Colony Northwoods to evoke the same approachable, warm atmosphere as its predecessors, as well as the same dedication to a quality, well-curated menu.
Right in time for this late summer launch, we’ve brought on some key players to lead the team:
We’re excited to announce our new executive chef, Karen Lyons. Originally from the Okanagan, Karen’s passion for food grew into a diverse career in Vancouver and across Western Canada, notably at Vij’s and as Product Development Chef at Earl’s for ten years. Red Seal designated for nearly 20 years, Karen’s most recent venture was as the dynamic talent behind her own bakery and catering company in Vernon BC.
We are equally as excited to announce Chris Hannan’s return to the Blueprint team as Colony Northwood’s General Manager. He opened Colony’s sister bar, The Charles Bar in Gastown, and ran it for several years after that. An industry veteran and Dollarton resident, Chris will keep all of our Northwoods’ guests in good company.
