Being a DJ and/or producer is like the 21st century equivalent of being a rockstar. From the outside, it seems like all you have to do is play at parties and festivals for the rest of your career. What they don’t tell you, however, is how much hard work you’re going to clock to make this dream into a reality.
Hailing from Australia, Tigerlily’s electrifying stage presence and drive to transcend the traditional expectations of a DJ sees her in a league of her own. Well known for her colourful and high energy stage performances, she continues to be a mainstay at Stereosonic Australia and has recently taken to the festival circuit in Europe.
We recently had a chance to chat with Tigerlily before her first show in Vancouver on her headlining tour across North America on Saturday, January 30th.
Hello everyone! My name is Tigerlily and I’m a 23 year old DJ/producer, part mermaid and full time weirdo.
Music wise – Troy Sivan. Performance wise – my good friend Timmy Trumpet, as well as Flight Facilities. Otherwise – Eckhart Tolle.
What So Not, Kuren, Tkay Maidza & Slumberjakd.
Yup for sure! Although I know I’m not a great singer, I don’t have any qualms about giving it a go. I’ve sung on some records before and have actually been working on one this week that I’m singing on.
I eat as healthy as possible and try to keep my routine as regular as possible. My two best friends for flying are water and an organic oil that I use as moisturiser.
Very uncoordinated dancing during my set, cute colourful outfits, and a smile!
The banana ’cause bananas are my life force.
I’m super excited to be coming to Vancouver this weekend. I love exploring new places and meeting new people, and I think the show will be great!
