This years TEDxVancouver conference at Rogers Arena was their biggest production to date. It’s impossible to walk away from that event uninspired. Esther Honig shared her experience from when her Before and After project went viral and started a commentary around the perception of beauty by not asking, “What is beauty?” But by asking, “What do you think?”
Dr. Lara Boyd shared her research about brain elasticity and informed us that a lot of common knowledge we think that we know about the brain, isn’t really true. She shared with us in fact that, “Every time we learn a new fact or skill, it changes our brain.”
One of the most interesting speakers was definitely Mohamed Fahmy who was one of the journalists incarcerated in Egypt for over 400 days, including a month in solitary. His experience was both terrifying and fascinating.
Some other highlights from the event included the visual arts program, the fashion pop-up, and the urban record lounge. Check out our visual recap from the event below.
