We’re excited to be hosting the Greyscale Tattoo Convention at VENUE nightclub this Sunday, August 16th. The first of its kind in Vancouver, Greyscale focuses on a special niche of fine illustration and black ink tattoos with an attraction to gothic and mythical aesthetics. Flash sheets will be available from featured artists on a first come, first serve basis varying in price and size. The event will also feature non-alchoholic drinks (because thin blood ain’t fun) and a curated list of vendors.
Get to know all of the featured artists below and be sure to purchase a ticket for the event in advance.
Kirk Shandro comes to us from Atomic Zombie in Edmonton to take part in Greyscale. Starting his career in Melbourne, Australia, Kirk returned to Canada in the summer of 2014 to continue his practice of Western Tradition style tattooing. Inspired by the work by Sailor Jerry, Burt Grimm and Ed Hardy, we’re excited to have him as one a featured artist.
Colin Cej is a Vancouver based graphic and web designer that also happens to make stick and poke tattoos. His minimalist illustrations and tattooing style seamlessly work together in a way that’s somehow both permanently casual and fun as hell.

IAmExtinkt also known as Justine Nguyen, fell into tattooing during her travels around Southeast Asia in March 2014. Working out of her own private studio in Vancouver, her style revolves around anatomy, animals and geometry using very delicate and fine lines. You’ll see strong themes of realism, linework and dotwork in her technique.
Maryellen Groundwater is another stick and poke artist based in Vancouver that will be applying flash at Greyscale. Fine lines and intricate shading instantly comes to mind when viewing her work.
